Irish
Stew
Suggested
ingredients (but feel free to add or change – that’s the
fun of cooking):
2
tablespoons of oil
1 onion cut
up
5 carrots cut
in thin slices
1 1/2 lb beef
(we use steak)
1 oz of flour
6 potatoes
3/4 cup of
water
Salt and
pepper and red wine to taste
Directions:
Heat oil in large pan. Add onions to the oil. Add
carrots and cook for a few minutes. Cut steak into small
pieces and add to onions & carrots. Add sliced and
peeled potatoes. Pour in water, season to taste with
sat, pepper and red wine and bring to a boil. Cook over
low heat until meat and vegetables are tender. Stew can
be thickened by adding 1 oz of flour.
Serve with
fresh bread – especially Irish Brown Bread.
