Irish Recipes

St. Patrick’s Day was a huge celebration in the Flaherty home. As a little kid, I was always amazed how a little green food coloring could make all the meals such an adventure!  We would start the morning eating cereal with green milk and drinking green Kool-aid (the only day of the year Mom allowed us to drink Kool-Aid for breakfast).

For lunch, I was allowed to invite 5 friends home from school.  Mom served us green pancakes, we drank green milk, and could also choose from green eggs (scrambled or fried) and ham.  Desert was green sugar cookies with mint ice cream.  The kids in my class at school fought to be on the invitation list! Dinner was normally Irish stew with fresh bread and of course, green milk.

It takes so little additional effort for you to create a St. Patrick’s tradition in  your home – get creative, have some fun, and be Irish for the day!   Here are a few traditional Irish recipes for you to use to make your own St. Patrick’s Day memories: please click on your desired recipe
